What will the future look like? Will Future Technology change the way we live? In this article, I will try to answer some of these questions. I’ve selected five technologies that are not commonly used today but will most likely be developed and implemented within 10 years.
The Future of Technology
As we all know, technology is constantly advancing, and what we can do with it seems to be growing by leaps and bounds. At least that’s how it feels sometimes. We’re already beyond what our grandparents could have imagined when they were growing up. While many new technologies are not quite ready for prime time, here are five future technologies that could be commercially available in 2022 or shortly after that. They will change your life in best ways you can only imagine today.

This list is a countdown of my top 5 future technology predictions that will have taken off or been emerging in 2022. Some technologies are apparent, and some may surprise you, but they will shape our lives into what we expect them to be. They will affect every part of our lives, both good and bad. This coming decade will show us how far we have come with technology and whether we truly embrace it as an essential part of our everyday lives. In 2022, there will be plenty of new technological advances that will affect our day-to-day life, such as advancements in healthcare and transportation. Technologies like the virtual reality and artificial intelligence will allow us to live different lifestyles than ever before possible.

1). Edge Computing
Edge computing is rapidly growing to keep up with consumer demands, especially in IoT environments. This allows resources and data to be analyzed as close to their point of origin as possible, drastically decreasing response times. Cloud-based services are becoming less valuable as more complex issues are dealt with at a hyper-local level. As data gets closer to its source and responsibility for processing moves from cloud providers to client devices, security becomes even more of a concern. Although there’s nothing preventing edge systems from being compromised themselves, it could be much easier than infiltrating a centralized service provider; however, solutions like blockchain technology are working towards providing an extra layer of security that would make such attacks incredibly difficult if not impossible.
2). Human Augmentation
Embedded Chips Will Turn Us Into Cyborgs by 2027: The technology that can be implanted into our bodies includes a wide range of functionality. It could consist of anything from a device that will monitor your health to one that will help you remember everything. However, human augmentation isn’t necessarily about implanting chips and appliances into your body; there are likely other applications we haven’t even considered yet. How will society react to these new technologies? Could it eventually lead to transhumanism? The potential implications are unknown, but one thing is clear: By 2027, human enhancement may have finally come of age.
3). Artificial intelligence or (AI)
The use of robots to perform tasks that usually require human intelligence. This includes physical labor (e.g., manufacturing, construction) and service-oriented tasks (e.g., customer service, therapy). AI can also refer to virtual beings in a computer simulation designed to imitate aspects of human behavior. Significant advancements in AI are expected as computers begin to learn by themselves based on experience or data fed into them rather than being explicitly programmed.
Artificial technology is already here and has been for decades, but AI is expected to continue to play a significant role in future tech. One of its main applications will be in connection with how cars function. Self-driving vehicles can learn from their past experiences, making them safer than human drivers and able to handle unexpected problems. More importantly, AI will help solve traffic problems by reducing accidents, giving cars more excellent communication, and directing traffic flow based on real-time information about casualties or terrible weather conditions.
4). Quantum Computing
The field of Quantum Computing is booming. This year, IBM made history with a new model that would improve existing ones by using atoms as transistors, allowing it to operate at room temperature. Once perfected, computers using quantum technology will be able to process and store far more information than those available today, which means processing power and data storage could someday become genuinely limitless. However, such a powerful tool could prove difficult to control because of its sensitivity to external factors. What’s more, there are lingering questions about whether or not it’s possible to build a practical system—let alone one that is secure enough to use in everyday settings.
In short, we’re still in a very early stage with quantum computing. But when it does mature, it will likely have an enormous impact on just about every industry you can think of—from transportation to health care.
5). Computer Vision
Computers are capable of seeing and identifying objects or people. Imagine a computer that could help you find a friend in a crowded convention center, spot something amiss on an X-ray or help guide an autonomous vehicle through changing traffic conditions. One of the key elements to unlocking broader practical applications for computers is their ability to perceive and understand their surroundings. The more advanced we make them at interpreting what they see, hear and feel, the more likely it is that computers will be able to serve us better in our daily lives.
We’re on our way to creating more brilliant cameras. Researchers are working on ways to give computer systems a human-like understanding of images and sounds, using brain-inspired models to process complex visual data more quickly. Using one approach, scientists at Google have developed software that recognizes objects in an image with 92 percent accuracy — better than humans. They plan to continue refining it until it can identify objects reliably enough for consumer products within five years.
